The Future of Rail

As the population in the Southeast continues to grow and trip times on our roads and airways to rise, we are beginning to realize that we are unable to pave our way out of congestion. Transportation congestion is limiting our economic prosperity and strangling our regions ability to compete both nationally, and globally.

To help ease congestion and create jobs, SEHSRA initially envisions 90 to 110 mph trains linking the Southeast serving the major population centers such as Richmond, Hampton Roads, Raleigh, Charlotte, Columbia, Macon, Atlanta, Savannah, Jacksonville, along with other designations along the corridor. Furthermore, we envision enhanced intercity passenger rail linking to the Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor serving communities not on the main high speed rail line.
